With 20 years in the field of neurosurgery and thousands of surgeries performed, Dr. Juan C. Alzate has spent the past decade in practice in Illinois treating patients from all over the world.  His interest in minimally invasive spine surgery and complex and minimally invasive endoscopic cranial-base surgery, as well as his drive for outstanding patient outcomes has led to positions in many Lake County hospitals, most notably, as Chairman of Neurosurgery at the Cancer Treatment Center of America Midwest. 

In addition to being recognized for his talent by his peers and for his positive bedside manner by his patients, the press have also captured a handful of Dr. Alzate's life-changing surgeries.  

Dr. Alzate graduated with honors from the Universidad Del Valle Medical School and its residency training program in Colombia, and also received his training in Neurosurgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City under the professorship of Chairman Dr. Eugene Flamm. 

Dr. Alzate's desire to be an active participant in improving minimally invasive instrumentation and applied neurosurgical techniques that dramatically alter patient outcomes led him to transfer to the United States, although he has never forgotten his Colombian roots and actively gives back to that community as well as here in Illinois.
